We couldn’t have asked for a more competitive night to end the Winter season. Four games, played with fabulous spirit, resuted in a wonderful night of finals games.
On Court 2 Division 4 battled out an amazing game with only 1 point deciding the winning team. With Redbacks reduced to only 5 players, they did an amazing job to be in the lead for much of the game. But in the last minutes Ravens came from behind to take the lead and hold on for the 1 point win. A fabulous gme watched by a large and vocal crowd. Ravens 29 d Redbacks 28.
Up next our Division 3 final again saw a very close match with the lead see-sawing multiple times throughout the whole game. Both teams had some fine 3 point shooting at clutch times in the game, which keep the large crowd of supporters on edge.Despite Vipers having all players on the score board, the long arms and excellent team work from the Thunder team allowed them to hold on for a 32 point win. Thunder 21 d Vipers 19
On court 1, we started the night with a huge clash between Leppards and Razors – we were all anticipatng a big game – and we were not disappionted. A low scoring first half (played with fierce defence) had the game poised with only 2 points separating the teams. In the second half the Razors increased their defensive effort but this increased their fould count and the Leppards were able to geta handly break with they held on to until the end. Leppards 18 d Razors 10.
And our last game for the night saw long time rivals meet again for the title of Victorian Champions. It was great to see these young men and women supported by such a big crowd. Rogue Flare took an early lead and held it for the rest of the game, and despite Rage being well know for coming home strongly, the boards at both ends belonged to the tall players for Rogue Flare, denying Rage and second chances. Rogue Flare 38 d Rage 27.
No games next week (31st Oct) – Summer season commences on 6th Nov.
