Last Friday (25th Oct) we held our Winter 2024 Grand Finals at Methodist Ladies College. Games commencd at 7pm before an enormous crowd of over 200 people. As the first games were finishing and the second games starting, the crowd swelled to many many more – pretty sure these were the biggest crowds Power Assist have ever seen. And everyone was treated with 4 sensational games to watch.
Division 4 – Sharks 26 def Ravens 19 in double overtime – what a treat. Both teams refused to give up and it wasn’t until the last few minutes of the second overtime, that the Sharks were able to break away. A thrilling game to watch between two teams who played exceptionally well. Top Scorers were Amelia (8) and Jonah (8).
Division 3 – Boomerangs 33 def Thunder 15 – With speed and great team work, the Boomerangs were able to get an early lead on the Thunder team, and then extend that lead to win the game comfortably. Top scorers were Matthew (15) and Tim (9).
Division 2 – Rapellas 33 def Razors 18 – This was a very fast paced game between two very physical teams. The first half of the game was very even (10-10 at half time), but then the Rapellas took off in the second half scoring 23 to 8 to win the game comfortably. Top Scorers were Jett (22) and James (10).
Championship Division – Roar (37) def Rogue Flare (24) – What a terrific game to finish the night off. These two teams were neck and neck for the majority of the 40 minutes with the lead changing multiple times. Rogue Flare came out in the second half and took an early 8 point lead, but Roar changed the tempo of the game, patiently took back the lead and then established a winning margin. Top Scorers were Jake (17) and David (12).
