It was an absolutely fabulous night at the Auburn High School stadium last Friday, when 10 teams battled it out to be Premiers of our 55th season of basketball.
We had big crowds for each games, and quite a few very close games to keep everyone very entertained. The skills displayed in both the Victorian Championship games (Men and Women) was of a very high standard, with all 4 teams battling hard for their points. The finals results were:
Victorian Championship Men: Roar 54 defeated Blaze 36
Victorian Championship Women: Avengers 22 defeated Knights 20
Division 2: Leppards 21 defeated Ring Burners 20
Division 3: Cavaliers 40 defeated Blazing Stars 32
Division 4: Ravens 38 defeated Astronauts 23
Sadly we say farewell to several players from the Astronauts who are retiring – Amy, Liz, David – they’ve been played since the start of our competition – for 28 years !! What an amazing effort.
The Winter season commences next week. With a reduced number of teams in Division 2, we have decided to play one Championship Men’s game at the MLC stadium each week – so please take a careful look at your fixture to make sure you know which stadium to go to – first week it’s Doncaster and Roar playing at MLC at 7:15pm.
