We are now halfway through our Winter season and the competition is going well at both venues – with 5 games at MLC and 8 games at Auburn High each week. Our newest team, the Rosellas, have settled into Division 3 and we have an abundance of new players spread across all teams in Division 4. Although we have very high standards in our Championship Men and Championship Women competitions, the actual number of teams have reduced in both this season. Division 2 is probably our most competitive division with our newly promoted team, Rage, holding their own against many of the experienced teams. Before we know it the finals will be upon us (11th, 18th and 25th October) so make sure you turn up for your games on these wintry cold nights and give your team the best chance to be in the finals.
There will be some new happy faces greeting players and families at the door at MLC in the coming weeks as we’ve recruited new door people. Many thanks to Mike and Lorraine for introducing some of their friends to Friday night basketball – and be sure to make welcome Ann and John, Graham and Marianne, and Ron and Wendy. We are very fortunate to have new Volunteers to help keep things running smoothly. As always, thanks to Kath, Claudia, Vicki, Kim, Allan and Sally who are our regular greeters.
Power Assist, on your behalf, is proudly supporting our National Basketball Teams. We wish all of the Pearls and Boomerangs much success at the 5th INAS Global Games which will be held in Brisbane, October 12th-19th. This is the first time the Global Games is in Australia and will be an amazing experience for anyone who attends.
